Sorry future children…

Nurse Mom

It's that time…

Here we go again…

It has been a long time since I've posted anything here.

Almost three years in Florida and the end of an era is occurring…

Brian is getting out of the Army.

Is it something he wanted to do? Yea.

Well - I may have convinced him.

I will never forget sitting in a restaurant (we can't remember which one near UMass-D) and Brian was showing me pamphlets of the Army. Brian was so excited and I was already in tears begging him not to join.

We survived.

It will have been six years this October.

Together and separately we have been to many places. Brian has been over seas and I have worked and lived in different states with and without anyone.

The years have flown and now we can say we are "almost" going home.

We will be moving to New Hampshire next week… not quite Massachusetts but still close to home.

We have grown, we have changed, and yet one thing has remained the same… we want to be near family.

This move is bitter sweet for me. Ever since Colorado I have always wanted to go home to be near everyone. However - I have become the most independent in my life living all over the states. I almost wished we asked for the over sea stations or somewhere further from home but in the end I wanted to make sure I could always be able to make it back to our family.

I have discussed with Brian that this means we must TRAVEL! To see the world and still be able to go HOME!

Bitter sweet - we will leave the military family and join another.

In a week we will be looking back on these conversations of "what will it be like" and actually be living it.

No more Army. No more moving from state to state - and no more missing family - other than the family we have made along the way.

Bitter sweet.

I'm thankful for all the opportunities the military has granted us. From leaving Boston, which I don't think I would have ever cared to do, buying our first home, renting it, selling it, living in FL, somehow surviving a deployment, to becoming a much stronger young married couple. It has been a difficult, interesting, and learning adventure - and I'm thankful that we can now say we are GOING HOME!

With a new adventure on the horizon - I hope for a continued life full of happiness, love, and laughter.

January 2012

Brian & I have been very busy since arriving in Florida! In order, if I can remember, this is some of the highlights so far... We both started new jobs. Met up with some of my college friends at Downtown Disney, we all went to Epcot together, then Brian and I went to Magic Kingdom after on the night of its 40th Anniversary. Visited with one of my best friends Ashley and her boyfriend. Met Brians brother and his family. Enjoyed an entire day at Universal, both parks, using the fast pass for the first time ever, with my cousin Jen, Billy, Brendan, & Ella. Drove back to Massachusetts for Christmas then spent two days trying to make our way back to Florida in the holiday traffic. Our friends Theresa and Pete just stayed with us for a long weekend. In between we have also had many adventures together; including taking the pups to different dog parks, watching a movie by the pier in st. pete, farmers markets, dates...I love spending time and exploring this place with my hubby hubs! It is hard to believe we only arrived in Florida the last week in September. It seems like we have been out of Colorado for a life time.

Now we are getting ready to most likely move again. We signed a short term lease at our apartment in hopes that our house in CO would be sold by now. *Fingers still crossed!* It is addicting looking on line for new places! ;)

Wishing and hoping for a wonderful 2012 in Florida with Brian! We are still feeling so far from home but recognizing there is so much for us to do here and places to travel to within Florida. It is exciting! Also feeling lucky that people want to visit us in this warmer state!

Hoping to post pictures from our time here thus far... who knows where we will end up after Florida...

F.L.O.R.I.D.A

Quick Update: The kids... aka Max & Maggie... are loving Florida! We haven't found a dog park as amazing as Bear Creek Dog Park, in Colorado Spring, but Fort Desoto is a close second! The ocean doesn't hurt! Max is a big fan of the water! He doesn't swim yet...walks out as far as he can then comes back! The first time Maggie jumped in she stayed in one spot for probably five minutes without moving at all! The second time we went to the ocean she walked along the shore line and ran away from the waves! It's OK Maggie...I'm not beach ready either! ;-)

We are enjoying it here!

We made it to Florida!! Driving from Colorado Springs to Tampa was an adventure!! We were able to stop and visit my sister and her family in SC which was the highlight of the trip!! Now we are trying to settle into our little place...*still praying our house in CO sells asap!* It is beautiful here and things are going well so far!

Saying bye...

I worked with some of the most amazing women! Saying bye to my "Five Five" ladies was hard! One of the Friday nights before I left we all went out together downtown! They really have been my second family! I have learned so much from each of them and they will be missed! It was a great last night in the downtown Springs!

Preparing...

Today - The movers came and now our house looks like the day we bought it! Brian and I already had most stuff packed and ready to go! Fortunately they didn't mind just taping those boxes up...instead of going through all of our clothes and bedding...which made me more at ease!! During all this commotion I hid myself downstairs for a phone interview! Meanwhile, while all this is going on...It has been raining non-stop for the last two days, which probably sounds normal for everyone back in New England, but over the last two years in Colorado, I have never seen this happen!! On Wednesday there was a record set in the Springs for the most rain fall, 4.5", in 24 hours! Moving day, is just compelte down pour and fog with a side of occassional hail, and temps in the 50s! Buuurr! Well, the movers completed loading the truck and here we are... A friend let me borrow an air matress and we are sleeping on that in our living room! While snuggled on the air matress, one dog on each side of us, Brian states: I think we should just get a studio apartment...and I hope he quickly forgets this idea! I fell asleep very early and now I am wide awake at 12pm...blogging! I guess I just needed a nap!

Packing & Moving

Our living room/bedroom for the next few days... it is so strange with nothing here!

Belcher's in Colorado

Brian's family were our last visitors in Colorado! We did some home finishing projects, partied at a family wedding, and set out on some adventures in the Springs. It was a great visit with many wonderful memories for all of us! I wanted to post a few of my favorite pictures from our few weeks together!

See you in November... FLORIDA STYLE! :)

Is this really vacation?!

Almost 2 years later we have a finished basement!!! Thank you to my hubby and his Dad!

Brian spent the end of his leave working with his Dad; they both really enjoyed each other's time! Many jokes have come out of all the hard work that went into the basement! It is all clean and looking beautiful now! (I'll post new pics before the move!) All we are using the finished basement for now is to to chase the pups around the house... (hehe!).

We learned the best thing about buying our house in Colorado was to learn how to do home projects! There is so much to learn! However, I can say this summer I have enhanced my priming and painting skills...although I still need more practice! Buying our first home has also taught us what we would like in our next home! Brian is convinced that will be in Florida... we will see... ;-)

The begining...

First wall up!

Primer and paint on the walls!
 Living room

The home owners said...LET THERE BE CARPET! ;)

                                                                        1st bedroom

Hallway leading to the bathroom and 2nd bedroom!

                                                                       2nd bedroom!

We love it!!
Thank you to Brian's Dad for all his great work, teaching, and help!!!
